Tile to Metal Roof Replacement — San Remo, Central Coast NSW
The Problem
This San Remo home had been living with a failing roof for far too long. The original concrete tile roof, while solid in its day, had become increasingly porous over the years, allowing water to find its way into the home in multiple locations. Long-term water ingress had taken its toll, and what started as an occasional drip had become a persistent problem that no amount of patching could fix.
Like many older Central Coast homes, the real issue wasn’t just the leaks — it was the cumulative effect of years of moisture working its way into the structure of the home.
The Solution
AWS Roofing removed the old concrete tile roof in full and replaced it with a lightweight Colorbond® Custom Orb metal roof in the client’s chosen colour, Jasper, an earthy, warm tone that sits beautifully on the property and gives it a fresh, modern feel without losing its character.
The scope of work included:
- Full removal of the old concrete tile roof
- Installation of Colorbond® Custom Orb metal roofing
- 55mm anti-condensation insulation blanket across the entire roof space
- Installation of roof ventilators for improved airflow and moisture control
The Result
The switch from heavy concrete tiles to lightweight Colorbond® has significantly reduced the load on the home’s timber sub-structure — an important benefit for an older property.
